PCG Bataan helps fisherman whose boat rammed by big vessel

The Philippine Coast Guard‘s main duty is to keep our seas and coastal areas safe for fishermen and seafarers and, of course, to be on the lookout for intrusive activities of foreign elements. But this time, the PCG in Bataan under Commander Jonathan Serote came to the rescue of fishermen in distress when a big vessel rammed the latter’s motorized banca on December 27, 2023.

According to Arnel Aldecoa, 44, of Barangay Wawa, Rosario town, Cavite province, they were on a fishing expedition with two other fishermen off Limay, Bataan when a big vessel, an oil tanker, rammed their small banca causing it to capsize.

Aldecoa was set to file marine protest against the owner of the vessel but the PCG got into the picture and the case was settled amicably in the spirit of Christmas season

In the spirit of Christmas and New Year, the PCG gave Aldecoa and his fellow fishermen “noche buena” package plus 2 sacks of rice for which the latter profusely thanked.
